Homemade Vaporizer How-to

Everyone wants to know how to make their own vaporizer. Reasons for this vary, but the most prevalent reason for stoners wanting to utilize a homemade vaporizer is the cost associated with purchasing a decent store-bought model. Here’s a quick how-to with some pics to accompany your assembly. This project will cost you about $25 plus the cost of a heat gun:

It is REALLY easy to assemble, and all of the parts can be found in the plumbing aisle at your local mega home improvement store.

The cannabis goes in what is called the 3/4″ union. Taken apart, it allows for 2 screens to be placed inside, and when screwed together with the cannabis in-between the screens, it holds everything together nicely. Once done vaporizing the cannabis, the PVC end cap replaces the adapter. I drilled a hole into the PVC end cap to serve as a nice mouthpiece that doesn’t feel/taste like warm metal.

It was fun to make and took about an hour start to finish to find the parts and put it all together.

As for the heatgun, it’s up to you to choose one that can do 360F to 410F or somewhere in that range. The best to choose are heat guns with ceramic heating elements, because they are the safest for your health.

Remember if you do decide to make one similar to this, WASH ALL OF THE PARTS VERY WELL. They all come coated in some oil that you do NOT want to be smoking. Washing all of the parts took me the longest out of everything. It would not be a bad idea to boil them or some similar method to make sure that there is nothing you don’t want still on the pieces.

  1. Let me know once you’ve tried this thing out. Looks like a solid DIY vape.

  2. Haha, I shall try this out myself once I can afford a heat gun Dx

  3. Thinking that using galvanized pipe would be better than the black pipe you used-no oil, easier to clean. Looks awesome tho, will try my own. Thanks

  4. I wouldnt use galvanised pipe unless you want to inhale zinc as well as dope. galvanised pipe is passivated in hexavalent chromic acid, and isnt the best thing to be inhaling on a regular basis. Unless you can find some heavy gold plated pipe, id stick with copper

  5. This is a very interesting article. This method of creating a vaporizer is defiantly feasible. Looks like a clean vape!

  6. goto Radio shack soldering gun kit…. pull the tip off, throw a diode on the electrical circuit (add a switch to bypass if your wanna get fancy) and mount. Use a glass jar with holes poked in it and a tube for a mouth peice… works great every time.

  7. This design is nice and simple but it just seems sketchy blowing the heat directly through those chemical ridden fittings. I have a design that fills a bag via a heat gun but there is a glass jar as a medium btween the heat gun and the bag

  8. A lightbulb vape is less sketchy (heating glass), the only thing is some people use them to smoke meth or crack; and once it fills with vapor its pretty hot.

  9. is that just black iron pipe? if so is it safe to inhale through? did you have any trouble with the parts rusting?

  10. My uncle made one of these and brought it to our cabin. We had several other vaporizers there, including the Volcano. The homeade one worked the best! He was the hit of the party!
