Traveling in Austin, Texas yesterday evening, at the intersection of I-35 and William Cannon Drive, I encountered a young homeless woman with a sign that caught my eye. Commonplace in a city whose catchphrase is, “Keep Austin Weird,” her sign forced me to reach into my little bag of goodies and share. Although I had to backtrack down the feeder road to make a second pass, the smile I earned in exchange for the nug I gave her was more than worth it. My only regret is that I didn’t have more to offer her.

Aw, this is a special story to me because it’s something that happens regularly in my hometown.
I took my first toke with a group of homeless people that kindly shared their beer and spliffs with my friend and me.
You never forget those who give you bud. =]
hmmm… i’d be very careful about doing that unless you’ve seen the person before… it’d be a perfect setup, it’s not entrapment because they didn’t explicitly ask you……. that said, very nice gesture

Haha.. this is great.. i live right by there.. but my favorite one is on the other side of town a hobo chills with a sign that says “it’s 4:19.. got a minute?” and on the other side for the dense it has “how about a roach?”
although he tells his same excited story every time i talk to him about how somebody gave him some kill and he was high for hours, i always make it a point to give him what i can.. i usually don’t drive with drugs in the car so i just throw him a beer..

dude that is very noble – i dont think i would ever ask for weed via a cardboard sign but at the same time it is kinda funny to see someone actually do it – so props for hooking a ballsy chick up, and props for being ballsy enough to overcome the paranoia associated w random ass potential spoofs asking for pot (although i’ve been to austin a lot and we both know it is not very hard to find awesomeness, and the cops there aren’t gonna waste ur time asking random ppl for mj); you gotta love that place!

You should of took her back to her trailer, smoked some weed and shagged the back off of her. Desperate-for-drugs girls will do absolutely anything, quite enthusiastically too, in my experience.

To those of you who are here to troll, I challenge you to find so much as 2 medical studies concluding Marijuana is more toxic than alcohol or tobacco. You ^CAN NOT^ die from smoking too much pot in one sitting (Believe me, I’ve tested this), it simply is not toxic enough it CAN NOT KILL.

Good man. I wouldn’t have done that. I’m a jerk I know but I save all the weed I got for myself and my buddies.
There are a few homeless people I like and try to help out whenever I pass them. One of them commented on smelling the weed I’d just been smoking, and smiled. It was obvious he smoked.
This has inspired me. Next time I see him I’m gonna pick him up and smoke him up while we drive around the block.

Weed blows your mind away, like a summer breeze blowing through you at the top of a hill, times a thousand. You feel great (unless you’ve got a reason not to, in which case you can either choose to feel bad about it, or to not worry) all day, and at the end of the day sleepy.

dude, I wouldn’t give anything to a person on the side of the road. Hell no. What if it’s a cop? For real, that whole scenario seems like a sting operation. I wouldn’t have been surprised if it ended with “and I got my ass thrown in jail for sharing with strangers”
