871,721 … What a Ridiculous Number
Luckily for me, I’ve never been “convicted” of possession of marijuana. However, nearly a million people were less fortunate than I in the year 2007. Imagine what that figure would look like if they caught all of us “users.” I’ve probably smoked 5 days a week since 2001. That’s a shitload of potential busts I’ve managed to avoid. I hope some of the readers are knocking on wood for me, but hopefully the US will have a complete overhaul to current drug policies sometime in the near future. Anyone else not holding their breath?

I immediately knocked on wood for you.
You’d love it over here in Australia. Check out our laws:

The city I live in (Canberra, Australia) is the capital of the country and the laws are even more lenient: “Currently individuals are allowed to grow up to five marijuana plants each and possess up to 25 grams of dried cannabis for personal use.”
Seriously, the victimization of casual drug users who don’t harm anyone over there is fucking ridiculous. Are they actually trying to tell you that think it’s that much of a threat and that there isn’t anything more useful they could be doing?
Truly scary.
